Lipidor develops improved versions of already marketed products in order to cover either unmet medical needs or improve the quality-of-life of the patient.
The versatility of AKVANO delivery system has enabled the successful incorporation of more than 60 structurally very different active pharmaceutical ingredients, used in products for different therapeutic applications such as:
- Local anaesthetics
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
- Wound healing
A comprehensive list of all actives successfully incorporated in different therapeutic areas is available.
The following table shows the current Lipidor pipeline.
Lipidor is targeting to move the candidates up to Proof-of-concept and thereafter license the product and the technology to partners.
Licensing discussions can start at any stage.
Technology Licensing for Originators developing NCEs or reformulations.
Lipidor supports originators – recognizing the features and benefits provided by the technology – wanting to the test their NCE in the AKVANO delivery system or working on an innovative reformulation for life-cycle-management purposes.
After confirming the feasibility of the NCE incorporation into AKVANO and the desired benefits, a licensing agreement is signed in order to move the product forward into the next steps required for registration purposes.
Consumer Health Care
Lipidor aims to develop unique products in order to cover either unmet medical needs or improve the quality-of-life of the patient. AKVANO based product applications include:
- Moisturizing Emollient
- Acne treatment
- Wart treatment
Lipidor is establishing licensing arrangements with co-development partners and distributors for skin and wound care and disinfection products. Products can be purchased ready and packaged, with or without exclusivity for a specific market. Co-development of products is also an option.
Skin diseases are very common in dogs, cats and horses. Atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, moist eczema (hot spots) and lick granolomas are examples of skin disorders which besides various pharmaceutical regimes (for example corticosteroids) need to be treated with emollients, keratolytic, antibacterial and antifungal agents.
The AKVANO dosage form is designed for local topical application. Topical treatments are increasingly used in animals offering many product opportunities, and AKVANO presents important advantages compared to other topical regimes.
Firstly, the water-free, solvent based composition makes the AKVANO dosage form especially suitable for application on protected skin, for example horse coat, and cat and dog hair or fur, which are water repellent.
Secondly, the non-touch feature of AKVANO makes it superior to creams and ointments.
Thirdly, the high content of emollient lipids make an excellent matrix for included skin treating agents, such as keratolytics.

The emollient properties of all AKVANO formulations have been the basis for a product pipeline on the Swedish market under the trademark EMOLLIVET. Two products were launched during 2017. Further product concepts will be added during 2018.
